Mr Xi's dreams will indeed cause wide-ranging impacts on ordinary people like us in some ways. But I believe they have other reasons to let China play its game with associated consequences that send shivers down my spine. Chinese leaders only negotiate with high-ranking figures of its partner countries. Worse, in many cases, under this Thai regime, local people have been suppressed when they wanted to have a say in those projects. In its quest for closer ties with this superpower, the Thai regime is losing support from its own people.
